What is CBD?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a Cannabinoid and is derived from the Cannabis Plant. The Cannabis plant contains two oils, CBD and THC. However, unlike Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), CBD is completely non-psychoactive. Because it is non-psychoactive CBD will not get you “high”, but it will still help you to relax.

How does it work?
Cannabinoids are agonists that bind to receptors on your cells, called cannabinoid receptors. Some of these receptors are heavily concentrated in the Central Nervous System while others are found in almost every organ of the body. Together, these cell receptors make up a larger endocannabinoid system (ECS). You can think of agonists as keys and cannabinoid receptors as locks. By consuming CBD, you are taking in agonists that interact with different locks on cells in the body, thereby ‘locking’ the function of the cell and stopping the cell from having an effect on the ECS.

Four primary purposes of the ECS include neuro-protection, stress recovery, immune balance, and homeostatic regulation. CBD is able to interact with cells in our bodies because the molecule has a similar composition to similar chemicals that the human body produces naturally, called endocannabinoids. CBD taps into this balancing system to produce its therapeutic relaxing and de-stressing effects.

Is it legal?
CBD is perfectly legal in the UK. THC is the part of Cannabis that makes Cannabis a class B drug, which in turn makes Cannabis illegal. As CBD does not contain psycho-active properties and is not considered an illegal drug, it is not covered by the legislation that governs Cannabis. CBD in vapour form is currently under medical testing for MS.

Is there a limit on how much CBD I can use?
Lazy Sunday Bath Bombs do not recommend you use more than 20mg of CBD in a 24 hour period. This is inline with the current guidelines for using CBD in relation to pain.

Is it safe during pregnancy?
We don’t feel there has been enough research into the effects of CBD on babies, therefore we do not recommend you use CBD if you are trying to conceive, pregnant or breastfeeding. We would hate for anything to happen to your little one!

Using CBD to treat medical conditions:
We neither claim nor promise that CBD will help treat or cure any condition or disorder you may have. Like any of the other essential oils in our bath bombs, CBD is included as a supplement to help you relax and enjoy your bath.
